Hillview Bands SALSA TIME! Items Arrived

Earlier this year, Ms. K, Hillview's Music Director, opened up a Donors Choose campaign to get bongos, a cabasa, a synthetic bassoon reed and harder timpani mallets. With support of generous donors, the campaign was fully funded and they just received the items requested! Thank you to everyone who helped Hillview's Music Program get the items they needed to enhance their performances! Below is the letter from Ms. K:
Thank you so much for your donation to our Salsa time project. We received the bongos, cabasa, timpani mallets and the bassoon reed and the kids were ecstatic. We have been using our new bongos and cabasa mostly in jazz band and they have made a huge impact in the sound especially on our latin pieces.
The cabasa has also been used in wind ensemble at our spring concert and at a music festival last weekend where they received a unanimous superior rating, the highest rating you can get.
The bassoon reed hasn't been used yet because we already had tryouts for the bassoon but it will come in handy in the future so we will be able to try out more students on the bassoon.
My students are all busy preparing for another music festival in a week and then we have our annual pops concert and ice cream social where these new materials will be put to good use.
I am so grateful for your generous contribution to our program. Thank you again for supporting the arts in our schools.
With gratitude,
Ms. Klaczynski
We can hardly wait to see the items utilized in the upcoming Pops Concert and Ice Cream Social in a few weeks! Stay tuned for more pictures!
