Greetings scholars and community!

My name is Julia McNeary and I am currently one of the U.S. History teachers here at Pittsburg High School. This is my first full year teaching and I am excited to learn and build with all of you! I am a Southern California native and moved to San Jose to complete my undergraduate degree. When I began my undergraduate career at San Jose State University, I had originally planned to work in the Public Relations field or Recreation and sports management. After taking a plethora of classes unrelated to the career I had planned to go into I realized that my purpose was to work with students and families. Once I completed my BA in Communication Studies and minor in Public Relations, I began working with a non-profit community organization that supported students and families in and outside the classroom for over two years. Through this role, I found an even greater purpose in the classroom and decided to become a full-time teacher. 

I became a teacher because I see the value and importance of our youth and because I wanted to give my students the teacher that I never had. My ultimate goal is to support my students in whatever way I possibly can, so please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I look forward to building alongside both our scholars and the Pittsburg community.
