Mr. Travis Clarke

My Name is Mr. Clarke, and this is my first year at Pittsburg High School. I will be teaching 10th grade English, and I am looking forward to meeting everyone here in Pittsburg and helping to steer the pirate ship! Before moving to the East Bay, I lived in San Jose for the better part of eight years. I taught 9th grade English at a charter school there, Cindy Avitia High School. I also worked as a long-term substitute teacher in San Jose's East Side Union High School District for three years, and before that I ran a non-profit organization, Young Imaginations, that funded arts programs in elementary schools. I have lived in the Bay Area since 2012, but I grew up in Los Angeles (Go Dodgers!) so my heart is all over California. Before moving to the Bay, I attended Granada Hills High School in LA and then earned my Bachelor's Degree in History at UC Santa Barbara. I later earned my Teaching Credential at Mills College in Oakland.
