Message from Superintendent
June 3, 2020
As we end the 2019-2020 school year and transition to summer, we are planning for the school year 2020-2021. Our first day of school is on August 12th. While we do not know what it will look like, we are planning for the 3 possibilities: Return to full in-person school with few restrictions; full distance learning; or a blend of in-person and distance learning. All decisions will be based on the State and County Health Orders. I have formed an Advisory Committee and we have begun the planning process. PUSD families will receive a survey next week, along with other opportunities to provide input. All planning information and materials will be listed here on our website. We will also be communicating with our families through our regular communication channels: website, email, phone calls, and Facebook.
Janet Schulze, Ed.D.
Superintendent, Pittsburg Unified School District
Every Scholar. Every Day. They deserve nothing less than our best.

Recorded Webinars on Planning for Reopening of School
The below videos are recordings of two virtual workshops the District hosted to present options on what the 2020-2021 school year may look like. During Superintendent Janet Schulze's virtual presentation, parents had an opportunity to ask clarifying questions and give feedback. We hosted three virtual sessions in English and three sessions in Spanish for our families. We thank the hundreds of participants that were able to attend the workshops. Your valuable input will help the District make important planning decisions. The District will be contacting PUSD families in early July and giving them the opportunity to choose a learning option that best fits the needs of their family.
