August 12th, 2020
Parents, Students and Black Diamond Community Members;
The start of the school year is upon us, and while this year may look different than anything we have seen before, here at Black Diamond, we are still committed to providing a supportive environment and the best educational opportunities to your student. While we wish that we could have them here in classes with us, our goal is still to provide top quality instruction and content that is accessible to the students, as well as supports such as Acellus and SEL programs. We are here to support your student during these difficult times, so please reach out to us with what you need.
As a reminder, school starts Thursday, August 13th at 8:20 AM. Students have 3 classes and will need to check in with their classes daily and participate in instructional activities. The schedule for each day is 1st Period from 8:20-9:43, 2nd Period 9:46-11:09 and 3rd Period 11:15-12:38, there is also a check-in time in the afternoon from 1:08-1:45. The teachers will structure that time between instruction and practice.
I want to take a second to outline the process that students will need to follow to access their classes. We have technology available for all students, if you need a laptop, all you have to do is come by and sign one out. The instructional materials will all be available for the students through the online portal and in their classes. To sign-in to their classes, students need to login through Clever to access their google classrooms. Their Clever login is their Student ID and their Password is pusd + student ID. Once there they are logged in, they need to add the Clever Extension, which should appear on the page. At this point the student should be able to access their teacher’s Google classroom. If you are having any difficulties, please reach out to us and we will work to support you.
Despite us currently being in Distance Learning we are still looking for ways to better support you and your student. Our counselors, Parent Family Liaisons and Site Support staff are also available and will be working for ways to support you. We encourage you to stay active, communicate with your student’s teachers and the school site, and ask questions. We look forward to the day when we are able to be back on campus and seeing all of you. Until then stay safe and please reach out to us with any support you need.
