Hello everyone!

My name is Ms.Jacobs, but a lot of students just call me Ms.J.I teach 12th grade economics at Pittsburg High School since 2019. Prior to joining PHS I worked in San Ramon teaching American Studies. I am originally from England, but moved here in 2012 and completed my Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Saint Mary's College of California in 2015. After I graduated, I worked at a tech company for a year and a half, and realized that it was not for me and that I wanted to give back to the community. In 2017 I went back to school to obtain my Single Subject teaching credential in Social Sciences from Saint Mary's College of California. While obtaining my credential I worked a semester at Hillview Middle School teaching Ancient Civilizations, before transferring to PHS to teach Government and World History for a semester. I know school is tough and my aim as a teacher is to make class enjoyable, current, and that my students are learning though interactive and group activities.

I am a resident of Pittsburg and have been since my time at Pittsburg. Prior to moving to Pittsburg, I lived in Clayton California, and before that England. I do enjoy travelling and learning about other cultures and countries, cooking, and learning. I am a believer in life long learning; I continue to take classes at DVC and online and one day, (soon), I hope to get my Masters. I recently had a baby, she has just turned one and I also reside with my partner, who is also a government worker.

This year, with the District and State following orders for social distancing due to Covid, we will be using Google classroom, whcih can be accessed via clever. On Google Classroom you will find our remind access codes and all logistical information.
