Well this is the final week to start getting some work in if you want credit for the past few weeks.  Hopefully you have started the book work and the i-ready work. I have assigned a few extra review i-ready assignments in order to keep everyone’s skills up.  Remember, Spring break starts on Friday so there will be a week without any new work.

  • Dismissal Week of 3/30 - 6th Graders

Posted by Jason Pisano on 3/30/2020

    Week of:  3/30 to 4/3

I have heard from some students/parents but not many.  Here is hoping you find yourselves and those you care about to be healthy, well fed and with as many supplies as you need.

6th Graders:  As I have yet to see most of you do work on iReady, nor have I heard back from most of you about the work I had assigned I am holding off on assigning anything new until I start to see some movement on your work.  For those of you who have been working; great job, keep it up and if you want you can look at any of the other Math teacher’s websites to find more work to keep you going. Anything that you do that they assign and I don't will count for credit/extra credit once grades start being entered for this dismissal time.  We are still trying to figure out how grading will work during this time and as soon as I have a clearer idea about that I will let you all know. In case you need a reminder on how to get to Clever:

    PUSD CLEVER EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES PORTAL

Clever is the district portal for PUSD online curricula and resources

Students will login to Clever using this website: https://clever.com/in/pittsburgusd

Once at the website, select "Log in with Clever" (it's the bottom option)

    USERNAME - (Student ID #)

    PASSWORD - (pusd + Student ID #)

Here you should find plenty of additional content to help you with the lessons we are working on.  As before I am having virtual office hours every weekday from 10am-noon and from 2pm-3pm where I will be ready to answer any questions.  I may check email outside of these times but this is when it is guaranteed that I will be around.

We don’t know how long this thing will last so keep your heads up, keep trying your best and, with any luck, we will see each other and be ready to move forward.

As always, this email and any other work I write up or get from the book can be found on my Hillview webpage at:

    https://www.pittsburg.k12.ca.us/Domain/2364

Be Safe and have a good day.

I have heard from some students/parents but not many.  Here is hoping you find yourselves and those you care about to be healthy, well fed and with as many supplies as you need.

7th Graders:  I don't have anything new for you as I have set you up with enough lessons to take us up to Spring Break.  So far I have seen only 30 or so of you work on the iReady assignments. In case you need a refresher on how to get to it (I know, we have been gone for so long) you need to log into Clever with the following instructions:

  • All grades First week of Dismissal

Posted by Jason Pisano on 3/23/2020

I thought I had sent out a mass email on Sunday but am learning from IT that Aeries has not been good about sending these messages so I am entirely dependent upon parents emailing me.  I do apologize. Here is what should have been sent out:

Thank you all for your patience during this time as we figure out what comes next for our students.  In order to keep our scholars learning through these tough times I have attached notes and assignments in order to help with this. I will be available every weekday between 10am-12pm and 2pm-3pm via email.  During these times I will be sitting at my computer ready to answer any questions any of you might have. I will be checking my email intermittently at other times, but those are the times to guarantee I will be available to answer questions. I will answer all questions given and can suggest other websites or lessons to help explain topics in a different manner.  For all classes I have assigned iReady lessons which can be accessed through Clever with the information that the district has sent out. Currently these assignments are due on April 10th, bringing us up to Spring Break. If needed, more assignments will be added on the chance that we do not return on April 20. Answers to worksheets will be provided upon request or after a set amount of time agreed upon by me and the other Hill-view math teachers.

6th Grade:  The Zip file contains work for the first week of dismissal.  After discussing with the other 6th grade teachers, more materials will be added to help our scholars get through their time.

7th Grade Accelerated:  In the zip file you will find the notes for Chapter 10 -Probability and Statistics (skipping 10-5) and the first lesson of Chapter 11 - Geometry.  The assignments labelled “RT” are re-teach instructions to give you more examples of what we are doing in this lesson. The labelled “SP” are skills practice assignments to work on the skills provided in the lesson.  Students are expected to work on 3 of these each week until completed.

7th Grade Regular:  In the zip file you will find the notes for the remainder of Chapter 7 - Triangles and Scale Drawing (7-3 and 7-4, the rest of the chapter we fold into lessons later in the year) and Chapter 8 -Area, Surface Area and Volume and 2 assignments for each.  The Assignments labeled “RT” are re-teach instructions in order to give you some more examples of what we are to be doing in this lesson. The ones labelled “SP” are skills practice assignments to work on the skills provided in the lesson. Students are expected to work on 3 of these each week until completed.

As per the email I sent out yesterday, all work for students can be found at my Hillview website which is

    https://www.pittsburg.k12.ca.us/Domain/2364.

Currently for 7th graders we have lessons that will take us up to spring Break and I also assigned some iReady lessons which can be gotten to via Clever, which the district should have sent out information regarding (also ________ has used the site before to take his iReady tests in school).

Attached I have included the current non iReady assignments so that ________ can begin working on them as soon as possible.

If you, nor ________, received my email from yesterday please let me know so that I can contact our  tech department in order to see if the problem is on our end. I have not sent out mass emails like I did yesterday so I have not tested to insure that it works correctly.

The iReady assingmnets and a copy of the book with future assignments can be found, as stated above,  by logging into clever. In case he has forgotten how to do so, here are the instructions:

Thank you for your patience and please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

I am sorry that you had to message me to get this information and I seriously hope Aeries is back up properly soon so that I might get the message out to parents who aren't as prepared as you.

Thank you and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.
