Degrees and Certifications:
Hi! Welcome to my page.
I have been teaching since 2009 and this is my sixth year teaching in Pittsburg. I was born and raised in San Francisco and enjoy visinng my family there.
I am an avid reader and enjoy writing, hiking with my family, cooking and baking.
Teaching is my passion. I wanted to be a teacher since I began school (In my Kindergarten journal I said that I wanted to be a teacher!).
I received my Bachelor degree in Liberal Studies Elementary Education from Humboldt State University and earned my Master degree in Teacher Leadership from Saint Mary's College.
We are set to be closed until at least April 20. If the shelter in place is lifted before then, teachers will be able to come in and prepare more work for students. We are currently working on remote learning but realize that not every student has access to technology.
In this time of uncertainty, you do not have to create a rigid schedule for student learning, there are many opportunities for student learning aside from a packet and a website (although we would like students to do those too!). Cooking and baking is a great example of math, science and reading.
Going out for a (socially distanced) walk hones observation skills. Students can then write a journal entry about what they experienced with their 5 senses.
Your child can read a loud to you or a sibling and have discussions about what they are doing.
First and foremeost though, relish this time with your family. The world can be a scary place but you are the rock for your child and can help them make sense of what is going on around them.
Please know that I miss your child terribly, I cannot wait for this to be over so that we can resume our regularly scheduled routines.
If you have any questions or need some more resources, please feel free to reach out to me via class dojo or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
