Ms. Pineda

Hello!

A little about myself: This is my 6th year teaching ELA and my 6th year at Hillview Junior Year. Previous years I have taught at a middle school in South Los Angeles. I got my Bachelors in Liberal Arts at San Francisco State University and got both my masters and credential at University of California Los Angeles.  I chose to teach English because I love reading and enjoy using writing as a way for students to discover their identities.

On my free time I love to read books and watch movies\shows. My favorite books growing up was the Harry Potter series, The Outsiders, and Hunger Games. For movies, I love anything that is Disney, Marvel, or with action. When I am on breaks I love traveling to new places, some favorite places I have visited so far are Tokyo and London.

I teach 8th grade ELA, 6th grade ELA, and 8th grade Study Skills this year and I am piloting the first Middle School Ethnic Studies class in Pittsburg Unified

Students, I will accept nothing but your best in this class. I expect you to ask questions. I expect you to be honest with me. I expect that you will respect your peers and I expect that you will respect me. I will be honest with you. I will always make time to answer your questions. I will respect you.  If you are achieving less than a C in my class, I will expect to come talk to me outside of class for extra help.

Below I have attached the syllabus for all my classes:
