Welcome to Employee Benefits at Pittsburg Unified School District
Eligible employees of Pittsburg Unified School District are offered a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include medical, pharmacy, vision, dental, and life insurance coverage. PUSD also has an Employee Assistance Plan through MHN. The District’s contribution towards employee benefits is determined by an employee's applicable employee group, association, or union.

Overview of Health and Benefit Information
As a new benefit eligible employee, with a hire date of August 15, 2018, your Pittsburg USD health plan will be effective September 1, 2018. Please fill out an online benefit form by August 10, 2018. Please note, in order for your medical plan to begin on September 1, 2018, your online enrollment forms, and documentation must be received by August 10, 2018. You may upload, and attach your documentation with your online forms, or you may drop off a copy of your document/s to the HR office Monday thru Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm.
Pittsburg USD Tax Sheltered Annuities, Flexible Spending Plans, and Opt-Out Medical Coverage Information:
If you already have medical coverage and would like to opt-out of medical benefits with Pittsburg USD, please fill out the medical form, and select the declination of medical benefits box. Please note, you will need to submit verification of your medical coverage to qualify for the Cash-In-Lieu district benefit. For information on tax-sheltered annuities, and flexible spending plans, please see the attached information for Envoy, and American Fidelity. The election in a Section 125 benefit plan must be received within 60 days of your hire date, otherwise, election would take place during open enrollment, and benefits would go into effect in January 2018. For a complete list of district approved 403 (b) plan providers please visit the Envoy Plan Services website, www.envoyplanservices.com. The website provides information on rolling over your 403 (b) to your new employer and also offers additional answers to FAQ’s.
Vision and Dental Coverage
The district provides to benefit eligible employees, Delta Dental and VSP vision coverage. As part of the enrollment process for a spouse, and/or child dependents, we do require verification. Please bring the following documents: marriage certificate, birth certificates for children, and social security cards for all dependents. Life Insurance and Optional Disability Insurance
As a new certificated employee, the district provides a $15,000, life insurance policy from The Standard. However, as a newly hired CTA member, you have a limited-time opportunity to sign up for disability insurance. Below you will find information on the CTA-endorsed Disability and Life Insurance from The Standard, and how to apply within 180 days. Additional life insurance and disability insurance options are available through other providers, please refer to the list of links below for additional information.
