Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Aimara Olazabal
¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!
My name is Aimara Olazabal and I am a Spanish teacher at Pittsburg High. I have taught Spanish and English as a foreign/second language at all levels; but my passion is teaching at the high school level in public schools.
A message to my non-Spanish speakers:
Learning a foreign language is not an easy thing to do, but is not impossible either. I know from experience as an english learner back in Cuba. If I learned English in a non English speaking country, you can also learn Spanish in the US. I know you can do it! Let's find your motivation and set your goals for your future. My job is to help you get there.
A message to my Spanish speakers:
First of all, congratulations for keeping your native language alive! We need to preserve our language that is part our culture and who we are. Like French, Mandarin, Portugues and many other languages, learning Spanish is very important in today's world. In your Spanish Speakers 3 class you will focus on academic language: learning new vocabulary, knowing different formats of writting, interpreting academic texts and audio recordings, and debating or conversing with others about various topics of interest. This class is also considered a Pre AP course which is going to prepare you for the AP language or AP literature class for the next school year. Tenemos muchos retos por delante pero lo más importante es que ahora estás aquí listo(a) para seguir preparándote en esta vida. Esta es tu oportunidad para alcanzar lo que desees y juntos vamos a lograrlo. Dale con fuerza que todo se vence y aquei estoy para ayudarte en lo que necesites. Les deseo un semestre y un año productivo y también divertido.
