Hello Warriors!


Welcome to my classroom!  I've been teaching at Hillview for eight years and have taught sixth grade history and multiple electives along the way. I am a huge believer in creating and maintaining a thriving classroom culture and community as well as molding growth mindsets in my students.


In room 103 we will explore the physical and human geography of six of the most important ancient civilizations in our world's history!  Swing by and visit Carlito, our resident Blue Tongued Skink.


During this time of remote learning please feel free to reach out!  I will be holding "office hours" from 10 am until 12pm each week day.  Within this time I will be in close proximity to both my district email and Remind app for questions or concerns.  I will had access to communication at any/all times before and after "office hours", however please allow for 24 hrs for response time outside "office hours"

Week 4 Remote Learning:



Monday/Tuesday; Please read "Greek Achievements" PDF.  Please answer the questions from page 282 (6 in packet) in complete sentences in your blue history notebook


Wednesday; ZOOM lecture; "Greek Achievements.  11 am 


Thursday; Writing promp; "Which Greek achievement has had the largest impact on the world today?".  Please write a paragraph explaining your understanding of Greek achievements and which achievement you believe has had the greatest impact on the modern world.  Use evidence from our reading and lecture in your writing.


Friday; Spring Break

Week 3 Remote Learning:


Monday;  Mindsent Monday!  Even during school closure I think it is important to remind ourselves about the ability to grow our intelligence!  Please fill out the attached form (it can be filled in online) and review the essentials of creating a growth mindeset


Tuesday;  Alexander the Great ZOOM meeting.  Please download the ZOOM meeting app (cell/tablet/computer).  Our meeting is scheduled for 11am, the ID is 833 271 8377, the password is Hillview 


Wed; Wow team!  I am very appreciative of everyone's efforts in getting logged into our first meeting!  I have scheduled another meeting for 11am (same ID and password), this time without time limits.  Can't wait to try it out again!


Thurs/Fri; Please use information from our ZOOM meetings and/or your Alexander the Great readings to write a short essay describing your opinion of Alexander the Great.  Please remember to use evidence to support your claim.  Your essay will need a minimum of three pieces of evidence to answer the question; "Was Alexander the Great, great?"




Week 2 Remote Learning:


Monday;  complete hook activity with someone at home and review Alexander the Great background essay.  Complete background essay questions in complete sentences in your history notebook

Tuesday:  Review documents A and B.  Complete questions in complete sentences in you history notebook

Wednesday: Review documents C and D.  Complete questions in complete sentences in you history notebook

Thursday: Review documents  E and F. Complete questions in complete sentences in you history notebook

Friday:  Use your documents and answers to questions to compile two lists; one with example of Alexander’s heroic actions and one with his villainous actions.  Each list must have a minimum four actions.
