BA in Liberal Studies Multiple Subject Teaching Credential
Mrs. Hernandez Coleman
I was born in Mountian View, California, and was raised in Richmond. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have two grown sons, a daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren. I received my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from John F. Kennedy University. Before coming to Hillview, I taught in Oakland for four years, in West Contra Costa for nine years, and this will be my 8th year in Pittsburg.
I believe teaching should be a real-world experience where students use their knowledge to become social activists by making sense of the world around them. Furthermore, my role as a teacher is a facilitator of knowledge where students take ownership of their learning and find a passion for becoming life-long learners and critical thinkers. I believe in partnering with parents throughout this journey. My discipline philosophy centers on relationship building to minimize conflicts and gain mutual respect with one another.
I look forward to working with you and your child to meet your scholar's needs in reaching their full potential.
