Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year!
Posted by Kelli Coffman on 8/17/2020 7:00:00 AMHello! Welcome to First Grade!! I am excited be your teacher this year and to start our year together, even if it is remotely. We will start slowly and build on our daily schedule.
The first thing I need you to do is to log into Clever. The directions will be given to you with the pink hard paper in your "First Grade Kit".
Once in Clever, you need to log into our Google Classroom. Parents, I will also use ClassDojo to communicate with you, too. That invite is on my Google Classroom page.
Our first day of school is on Thursday August 13th - I'm so excited!
Looking forward to meeting and "seeing" you all!Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Coffman -

Week of June 1-5, 2020
Hi Room 4 Families-
Our Summer Break has finally arrived! We will Zoom Monday June, 1st and Tuesday June 2nd. Tuesday June 2nd will be our last Zoom day/school day. On Wednesday June 3rd, Summer Break will begin.
Currently, we do not have any information as to “how” school will look upon our return on Wednesday August 12, 2020. It is my understanding that you will have access to Clever until July 31st. Please use this resource as much as possible between now and then. I will keep our 2019/2020 ClassDojo up through the start of school so as I get updates I can continue to send those to you. This seems to be a good way to keep in touch. I am also happy and available should you wish to reach out over Summer Break, even Zooming every now and then.
Report Cards will be emailed to you. Please be sure that I have a correct email for you to ensure that you get one. On the report card, it is the Comment Section that is most important. Please read and reach out if you have any questions or need clarification. Please do work with your child over the summer months. Finish up those workbooks, read, talk math, cook and read recipes, get outside and enjoy the weather. Have your child record feelings in their writing journals. Write fun, silly stories together, act them out -enjoy this time together as much as possible. If you need anything, do let me know.
I did a full week of lesson plans for you. We ended Wonders perfectly- Unit 6, Week 5. Math we were close to ending as well. Your child can go back and do any of the Science that was missed, along with any missing pages in their workbooks: Red Practice Workbook, Interactive Science book and Go Math. Our final 2 Zoom meetings will be devoted to playing our Countdown to Summer Break game and the reading of Flat Stanley stories. This is the link to see what we will be working on…

Have a fun, wonderful, and well deserved Summer!

Hi Families-
Hope you all had a great extended weekend!
The plans for this week will be a little different in that we are starting our Countdown to Summer Break. The lesson plans are a guide for you to use with your child. As you complete the work from the workbooks, please take a picture of your child’s best work and send it to me on Class Dojo. Our Zoom meeting will be devoted to playing our Countdown to Summer Break game and the reading of Flat Stanley stories. This is the link to see what we will be working on…

As a reminder, our grading will look different for Trimester 3 in that you will be given a mark of either “Met Expectations” or “Limited to no Contact”. If you are only working on packets, please take a picture and post to ClassDojo. Please be sure you are checking in with me daily, either via Zoom, email (kcoffman@pittsburg.k12.ca.us) or via ClassDojo. I can’t stress these last few sentences enough. I have to hear from you in one of these forms. Be sure to go to the Stories area of ClassDojo for all events and Zoom information. You will find the log in for the Zoom session and the materials that you need for that session. Make sure to have pizza boxes on hand when we Zoom as that is where their materials should be kept. These sessions give you a bit of a break, too! Please be sure that you can access everything through Clever as this is another way to check in daily with me. I can see who has logged in and who has not. Lastly, I would save everything that your child is doing during this time.

It’s May! This is one of my favorite months of the year. Here’s why: it’s Spring time- lots of great weather, flowers in bloom and baby animals born. May 5th is Cinco de Mayo and my oldest daughter’s birthday, and the month ends with Memorial Day weekend, and barbecues with family and friends. Many family traditions take place for me this month. We will explore this more on Tuesday. This week in Wonders we are talking about how we can work together to make our lives better. This has been an interesting time in teaching/learning, in our lives in general. I am constantly reminded that we are in this together. I look forward to seeing you as we Zoom- trying to figure out that program! I look forward to hearing from you on ClassDojo, or via text. We are truly working together to make this a memorable learning experience for us all. This makes me very thankful for each one of you!
I heard from more of you this past week. We were Zooming with 16 of us this past Monday!
