Ms. Andrea Riley-Sorem

Welcome to our page 5th Grade Students & Families! I came to Pittsburg Unified way back in 1997 with one year of teaching experience and several years as a high school color guard coach. I started at Central Junior High School teaching 6th grade, but after seven years decided to return to my roots as an elementary school teacher. Enter Parkside where I've been teaching 5th grade for the last 16 years. We are a family here and I love getting to teach all of the core subjects as well as be one of the student council advisors. 

I am so grateful for each and every day that I get to work with my students and their families. Guiding students in their educational journey is a huge source of joy, but learning from my students on a daily basis is the icing on the cake. Who knew that at the ripe old age of ten, when I decided I wanted to be a teacher instead of a ballerina or forest ranger, that I would eventually go on this decades long journey!
