Welcome (back) to Rancho Medanos Junior High School! My name is Mrs. Donna Norona and I am so excited to be your Resource English and/or Homework/ELA Support teacher this year! We are going to have a lot of fun working with the Language Literacy Intervention Program and other supplemental materials.
I earned my Education Specialist Credential from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. I worked with San Mateo Foster City School District since 2007 and moved to the East bay in 2014. I grew up in the Philippines and now live in beautiful Martinez. I am the grandchild of 2 educators, my maternal grandfather was a retired school administrator in the Philippines and my maternal grandmother taught History and English for over 30 years! My father worked his way through school. He finished college while working in a bakery, houseboy, etc. He retired as a regional sales manager for an international company. My mom is one of 10 students. All of them finished college even when my grandfather passed away early, leaving my grandma to make ends meet. Education has been my family's legacy from one generation to the next. It is what helped change my family's destiny for the better and that is what I hope for my students as well!!
As an educator, I make each day count with the goal of helping my students become better readers and embrace being lifelong learners. Together with my co-educators, I prepare my students not only leave Rancho better equpped for college and career but moreso, for life. To know who they are, how they learn and persist in their journey no matter how challenging is what I hope my student embibe.
I am married to my husband Wynn for 11 years now and we have 2 sons: Quino, 6 and Adam, 2. I enjoy reading, cooking, going outdoors, hiking, and spending time with my family!!
