Mrs. Hue Phan

Dear Families,
My name is Hue Phan and I would like to reach out as the new Vice Principal of Heights Elementary School. I am very honored of this opportunity and I look forward to working with everyone.
A little background on myself, I have worked in the Pittsburg Unified School District for 17 years, 16 years as a teacher and one year as a BTSA mentor last year.  As a BTSA mentor, I supported and helped new teachers in our district.  I am the oldest of nine children from a first generation immigrant family.  With this came with many responsibilities at a very young age.  I mentored and supported my younger siblings with their homework and attended teacher/parents’ conferences on my parents behalf (as they did not speak English).  I started working since age 15 to financially help support my siblings. I guided them through their personal, educational, and professional decisions.  These experiences made me realized at a young age that I wanted to make a difference in the world and become a teacher.  As a teacher, I taught 2nd- 4th grade at Willow Cove Elementary School. I love teaching and it is a passion that I greatly enjoy. As a teacher, I was able to annually help at least 85% of my students achieve proficiency or advanced levels.  Through the years, I often have students come back to thank me before they attend college.  This is one of the most rewarding moments as a teacher and this continues to motivate me. Knowing that I made a difference and a positive impact in each and every student’s life, makes me want to make a bigger impact and influence more students.  I hope to accomplish this goal as the new vice principal of Heights Elementary School.  I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such a dedicated and supportive community. Once again, I look forward to meeting and working with all the parents, grandparents, and guardians at Heights.  Together, we can help all students thrive and achieve academic success.  Thank you!

Kind regards,
Hue Phan
Vice Principal
