Families, Scholars and Community Members, it is an honor to welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year here at Black Diamond High School.  As we begin this new adventure I wanted to take some time to let you know what has been going on at Black Diamond and what you have to look forward to this year.  Our staff has been hard at work preparing for the start of school, and to provide your scholar with the best education possible.  We have several programs that we will be highlighting this year, but I want to start by talking about one of the biggest changes.  This year we are partnering with People Who Care and the STS Academy to offer our first comprehensive After School Program.  The program will begin in September and will start with five offerings including:  Driver’s Training, Barber Training, Cosmetology, Culinary Program and Student Voice.  The programs will be here over the first couple of weeks to sign scholars up for these because spaces will be limited.

We encourage all of our families to be an active part of our school community.  Our Back to School Night is Thursday August 22nd from 4:30-6:30 PM.  This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the teachers and staff at Black Diamond High School and learn about what your scholar will be doing in the classroom.  We would also like to encourage you to get involved in the school by becoming a part of our Site Council, ELAC or just being here on campus.  If you are interested in participating in any way please reach out to our Parent/Family Liaison Susana Aguilar to see how you can get involved.

Black Diamond High School strives to be a caring and supportive community for our students.  In order to achieve this, we need to maintain a relationship with those that support them.  I look forward to the opportunity to work with all of you during this school year and to the best possible school year for all of our Miners here at Black Diamond.
