Dr. Janet Schulze

Dr. Janet Schulze has served as Superintendent of Pittsburg Unified School District since July or of 2014. Prior to coming to Pittsburg, she was the Assistant Superintendent of High Schools for San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). While at SFUSD, Dr. Schulze led the implementation of the district’s equity focused strategic plan. Prior to that, she was a high school principal in SFUSD, an assistant principal in El Paso, Texas, and she began her career as a seventh grade English and reading teacher in El Paso. While in graduate school, she also worked for the states of Massachusetts and New York evaluating Charter Schools. Dr. Schulze received her B.S. in Secondary Education and English from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and her Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas, El Paso. Her Master’s Degree of Education, along with her Doctor of Education are from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she was also in the Urban Superintendents Program. Her dissertation topic was on, “English language learners’ experience of high school reform."

Mr. Enrique Palacios

Mr. Palacios is Deputy Superintendent of Pittsburg Unified School District and has served as Chief Business Officer since January of 2010. Prior to his appointment, he was the Deputy Superintendent for Business Services in Gilroy USD. His service in public education began as an advocate in the District of Columbia and has included the positions of Budget Director, Special Assistant to the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, Associate Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and Executive Director of Operations in school districts in Northern California. Mr. Palacios holds a B.A. from the University of the District of Columbia, a M.P.A. from New York University in Public Education Finance, and a Certificate in Public School Districts Management from the University of Southern California. He has served as an elected official with the Board of Trustees of the University of the District of Columbia and the Alameda County Board of Education.

Ms. Norma Gonzales

Ms. Gonzales has served as Assistant Superintendent – Human Resources at Pittsburg Unified School District since July of 2015. Prior to PUSD, she was the Director of Human Resources for the Santa Clara County Office of Education for nearly two years, Director of Human Resources at the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District for two years and Director of Human Resources for the Riverbank Unified School District for six years. Public Education has been a part of her career path since 1996 and her career has encompassed several roles prior to becoming a Director of Human Resources. Although most of her experience has been in human resources, she has also worked and supervised employees in payroll, employee benefits, accounting, workers compensation/risk management and student services/child welfare and attendance. In addition to public education, Ms. Gonzales worked for E. & J. Gallo Winery in Human Resources and Payroll, and spent eight years at Bank of America in New Accounts, Accounting and as a Lead Vault Teller. Her education background includes a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from San Jose City College and University of Phoenix. She holds a Certification in HR Management and has completed ACSA School Personnel Academy, and ACSA School Business Academy. Additionally, she received a School Management Negotiators Certification from School Employers Association of California, attended Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley – Latino Board Leadership Academy, and was certified by the State of Washington for speaking, reading, and writing fluently in Spanish. Professional affiliations include: Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA), California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA and ALAS), and California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO).

Mr. Anthony Molina

Mr. Anthony Molina serves Pittsburg Unified School District as the Executive Director of Educational Services, a role he assumed in July, 2015. Mr. Molina has great pride for the City of Pittsburg. He was born and raised in our community and has a commitment to the children and the quality of education in Pittsburg. After graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1994, he attended Los Medanos College. He transferred to California State East Bay and graduated with a B.A. in English and a Minor in music. In 1999, he began his career in education as an English teacher at Pittsburg High School. After seven years of teaching, he was promoted to Assistant Principal of Pittsburg High School. Mr. Molina became the Principal of Hillview Junior High School in 2010 and remained in this role for five years before becoming Executive Director of Educational Services. Mr. Molina earned his Teaching Credential, Administrative Credential and Masters in Educational Leadership from Chapman University.

Mrs. Eileen Chen

Mrs. Chen has served as Director –Educational Services at Pittsburg Unified School District since July 2015. A product of Pittsburg’s educational system, Mrs. Chen was excited to return to her home town and start her career in education at her alma mater, Pittsburg High School, in 2001. She started as a math teacher and then progressed to Assistant Principal. She was the Principal at Los Medanos Elementary prior to moving to the Educational Services department. Mrs. Chen received her B.S. in Mathematics from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She earned her Administrative Credential and Masters in Educational Leadership from California State University, East Bay.
