I wanted to reach you out to give you a peek about what we have been doing in science since the start of distance learning. We have been digging in “viruses” as they are in the center in our lives nowadays. So far, we learnt what viruses are, how they replicate and make people sick, how the structure of virus helps them to survive, tips to stay virus-free and why we need to wash our hands at least for 20 sec.
In this week’s science meetings, I introduced the culminating project. I also posted the details on my webpage. As for the project, the scholars are required to do the following to complete this project successfully:
- Choose a research question from the list they have been provided.
- Make research to answer that question.
- Create an infographic which we discussed in our meetings this week.
- Create a Public Service Announcement (PSA) which we discussed in our meetings this week.
- Create a brief slide presentation.

I also wanted to reach you out to announce that I extended the due dates for the culminating project. We will cover more about the project next week. The new due dates are as following:
- Infographic (Due May 11th)
- PSA and Slide Presentation (Due May 12th)

I have been receiving emails asking for the new password for this week. I understand that different teachers have different implementations. This sometimes causes confusions. As I specified on my webpage, I will not change zoom meeting id’s and passwords that I sent you unless needed due to security/privacy issues. So, please keep using the same meeting id’s and passwords unless you receive a new one from me.
Another issue I realized this week was that joining the wrong Remind periods. Make sure you joined the correct period for Remind as I sometimes send class-specific info. If you join wrong period on Remind, then, you would miss info that you need to know for that class.

Dear Parents and My Scholars,
I hope you and your loved ones are all well and healthy. We have been going through hard times. I can imagine how you may feel unclear and unsure of what to do. Please do not feel alone and you are the only one feeling that way. I will strive to make things as clear as possible. Yet, this is also new for me. So, we will need mutual tolerance and coordination.
1. WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS
I will be posting weekly assignments each week and they will be due the next Monday. Scholars will turn their assignments in either via a google form or by sending it to my email. I will specify that within the assignment. You can find them under the assignments tab. Please check this page regularly for updates.
IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU TURN YOUR WORK IN THE WAY I ASKED FOR.
- ANYTIME YOU SEND AN ASSIGNMENT TO ME VIA EMAIL OR REMIND, IT MUST BE NAMED AS THE FOLLOWING: "Name of the assignment/Full name of the scholar/Period". This is very important for me to track your assignments and keep them in place.
- If you are taking a picture of written homework, please make sure it is well-lit and legible.

4. OFFICE HOURS
With the new schedule in place, office hours will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays between 10 am -12 pm. There will be no zoom meetings for office hours. Please send your questions via Remind or email. I will be ready to reply them right away.
