I graduated from St. Olaf College with a BA in Psychology and Religion and received my MS in Counseling and Mental Health and my PPS credential from California State University - Hayward (now it's called Cal State East Bay). I also have a Multiple Subjects teaching credential from St. Mary's College of California. In addition to my work at Hillview I serve as the Executive Secretrary for the California Association of School Counselors and work as an adjunct instructor supervising school counseling graduate students at Concordia University Irvine. I am married and have a step-son, a daughter and two dogs. I love living and working in Pittsburg and in my free time I enjoy camping with my family.

Ms. Hinojosa is currently attending Saint Mary's College and is working towards her MA in counseling, PPS credential. Prior to attending Saint Mary's she graduated with her undergraduate degree from UC Riverside. Since graduating from UC Riverside and moving back to the Bay Area, Ms. Hinojosa has worked in HR as a recruiter and has been a youth soccer coach in Contra Costa County, coaching at the competitive club level and at Heritage High School in Brentwood. When Ms. Hinojosa is not studying or coaching, you will find her trying out new foods and traveling around. She loves exploring new places whether it's cities or nature and loves meeting people who are different from her. She loves music, any and pretty much all genres! Kayla is also a bilingual Spanish speaker, who is looking forward to serving her students and prides herself in being an advocate for equity and social justice.
