Mrs. Miyase Tuncman

Dear MLKJJHS Parents, 

My name is Miyase Tuncman, the 6th-grade science teacher. 

I am grateful to be a part of a "family" as a colleague at MLK and to serve my scholars as their teacher. I received my undergraduate degree in Science Education in Turkey and my master's degree in Environmental Education in Florida. I had a chance to work with the regional community about the invasive Burmese pythons in Miami-Dade County where the local community was encouraged to kill those pythons and got paid when they started to pose threat for other wildlife and humans. I also worked for the United Nations as a researcher. I started my teaching career in Walnut Creek in a non-profit organization as a Natural Science Educator. I had great opportunities to learn about Next Generation Science Standards and develop curriculum for Contra Costa Water District, Water Education Program. Before coming home, MLK, I taught 6th-grade Science and 9th-grade Biology in Walnut Creek. 

My reason to become a teacher has been my love to share and love to teach. I enjoy my job and hopefully, my scholars enjoy it, too.
