Mrs. Holz
My name is Misha Holz, and I am an English Language Arts and English Language Development teacher at Hillview Junior High School. As an eleventh year teacher here at Hillview, I am confident that my previous experiences in the classroom have prepared me for this position.
By way of background, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and high honors from UC Santa Barbara with a major in Linguistics and a minor in Education and Applied Psychology. As a tutor and an advocate for education, I continued my studies to pursue my Master’s Degree in Education and a teaching credential in English at UC Santa Barbara. My graduate studies were pursuant to the prestigious Woodrow Wilson–Rockefeller Brothers Fellowship, which provided me with an ample stipend in exchange for three years of teaching at a high need school after receiving my teaching credential. Teaching is my passion, inspired in part by some of the outstanding teachers that I had as a student. I assure you that I will do my best to make your child’s classroom experience meaningful, productive, and memorable.
When not teaching, I enjoy watching movies, TV shows, and reading books; my favorite movie is Stardust, based on Neil Gaiman's novel of the same title, while my favorite books include John Steinbeck's East of Eden, Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, and Meg Cabot's The Mediator series. These are just some of the things that I enjoy, but I am also an avid fan of both film and book versions of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter and all kinds of board games. Aside from watching movies, reading books, and playing board games, I love relaxing at home with my husband and son.
