Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Michael Whitaker

Mrs. Whitaker has been teaching in Pittsburg for 20 years.  These twenty years have been rewarding as well as a challenge. She wanted to be a teacher since the third grade.  She feels her greatest accomplishments are helping not only students, but colleagues recognize their full potential.  You can often find Mrs. Whitaker being a mentor to other teachers, a tutor to struggling students, a  team leader for her grade level, all while doing her best to prepare students to leave school ready for the world.

She graduated from Pittsburg High School, went to college in San Francisco, and earned her teaching credential at Chapman University.  She came back to Pittsburg to give back to her community she was raised in.

To see students involved in their own learning is the greatest reward for her. She believes mistakes are accepted, but maximum effort is expected.  Teaching for Mrs. Whitaker is much more than a job.  This is her profession that allows her to mix her passion and skill.  Go Highlands!
