Highlands phone number is 925 473 2440. In order to reach a classroom teacher, calls must go through the main office. Please remember that teachers are busy teaching during the school day so please leave messages in the office.
Registration
Registration for incoming kindergarten students at Highlands will continue until June 25th. Registration for kindergarten as well as students in grades 1-5 that will be new to Highlands for the 2012-13 school year will resume in mid-August.
When registering your child for kindergarten you must bring the following:
- Proof of Address (utility bill)
- Original Birth Certificate
- Immunization Records
- Physical Exam (dated after 3/1/08)
- Dental Exam (dated after 9/1/07)
If you do not have these items, your child’s registration can not be completed until they are received.
School Uniforms
Pittsburg Unified School District requires that all students in grade K thru 8 wear a school uniform. A uniform consists of a white or navy blue polo shirt/blouse with navy blue pants/shorts/skirts/dresses. White t-shirts and blue jeans are not acceptable as uniforms.
We are also requesting that students wear navy blue jackets or sweatshirts as outerwear when the weather is cold.
There are many benefits for parents, students and school communities in regards to this uniform policy. One of the greatest benefits is the elimination of students being teased because they may not have the latest fashions. Students are better able to focus on their purpose for being at school rather than what the student sitting next to them in class is wearing.
