Pittsbur
g Pirate football fans got a wonderful surprise on Christmas morning when the Contra Costa Times announced that Coach Vic Galli was selected as "All East Bay - Coach of the Year". The Times lauded Galli for his perseverance with the team after early season losses and the tremendous progress that players made under his leadership. Ultimately, the Pirates lost in championship competition against De LaSalle but were able to avenge an early season BVAL loss by beating undefeated Deer Valley High in the quarter-finals.
The Times credited Galli's success with his appeal to players to play for the team, rather than themselves. Galli attributed the teams turnaround to hard work by the coaching staff and the players unwillingness to give up. Congratulations to Coach Galli!
