Dr. Janet Schulze has served as Superintendent of Pittsburg Unified School District since July or of 2014. Prior to coming to Pittsburg, she was the Assistant Superintendent of High Schools for San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). While at SFUSD, Dr. Schulze led the implementation of the district’s equity focused strategic plan. Prior to that, she was a high school principal in SFUSD, an assistant principal in El Paso, Texas, and she began her career as a seventh grade English and reading teacher in El Paso. While in graduate school, she also worked for the states of Massachusetts and New York evaluating Charter Schools. Dr. Schulze received her B.S. in Secondary Education and English from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and her Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas, El Paso. Her Master’s Degree of Education, along with her Doctor of Education are from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she was also in the Urban Superintendents Program. Her dissertation topic was on, “English language learners’ experience of high school reform.
Mr. Palacios has served as Chief Business Officer since January of 2010. Prior to his appointment, he was the Deputy Superintendent for Business Services in Gilroy USD. His service in public education began as an advocate in the District of Columbia and has included the positions of Budget Director, Special Assistant to the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, Associate Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and Executive Director of Operations in school districts in Northern California. Mr. Palacios holds a B.A. from the University of the District of Columbia, a M.P.A. from New York University in Public Education Finance, and a Certificate in Public School Districts Management from the University of Southern California. He has served as an elected official with the Board of Trustees of the University of the District of Columbia and the Alameda County Board of Education.
Mr. Doctolero has served as Assistant Superintendent - Educational Services since 2010. He was the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Contra Costa County Office of Education for eight years prior to joining the district. Mr. Doctolero holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and a M. A. in Educational Leadership from St. Mary's College of California. Throughout his career, Mr. Doctolero has been a teacher,Varsity Football, Soccer, and Baseball coach, Athletic Director, Crisis Counselor, high school Vice Principal, Principal and district Director of Human Resources.
Ms. Clark has served as Assistant Superintendent – Human Resources since 2014. She has been a teacher, Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent for various districts in California. Ms. Clark holds a B.S. from Humboldt State University, M.S. from Oregon State University, and an M.A. in Education from Simpson University. She has participated on a wide variety of boards and committees that support environmental education, technology and the arts.
